Hi,
I've been lurking for a while as I've progressed through my pre-op Doctors visits and waded through the mountain of paper work to get approved.  I have found the men's forum a wealth of information that has helped me a lot.  So I wanted to thank everyone that posts here for keeping me informed but more so for helping me keep my sanity through all this.

My date is 11/26 and as you all know I'm nervous as hell.

Hope to be on the bench soon and offering some help where I can.

Thanks again.

Pat

Thats great Pat- and welcome to the locker room! Hang in there, it goes fast and furious! Keep your mind occupied the next couple of days, and it will be over before you know it. Good luck!

Pat let me first say welcome to the locker room .
And second I can say from someone who is closing in on their third year as a post-op, the time will go fast !
You will be hiking , biking , swimming ,running , walking or whatever before you know it. ( BTW one of these is a must )
Good health and best wishes

Pat,

Follow the Four Mantras of Life Post WLS:

1.  Sip, sip, sip.  Need the fluids.
2.  Walk, walk, walk.  Need the exercise and prevent clots.
3.  Any problems:  CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!  'nuff said.
4.  Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!  You may inadvertently "redecorate" your surroundings.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Pat,
Relax my friend. I am 2 weeks post op with rny and I feel wonderful just follow Drs advice and you'll do fine.
Trust that everything will go smooth.
I did and my blood pressure was even low pre op and they almost had to wake me to give me anastetic.
I was in good shape afterwards too and even though I am not able to get in all the water I am supposed to have I am doing the best I can. It is working too.
I weighed 426.7 after surgery with swelling and all and I am down to 397 in just 2 weeks.
Talk yourself into a easy surgery and beleive that I will be praying for you on the 26 th and you will do fine.
Eat your Ice and walk walk walk sip sip sip ask for sugar free popcicles and expect the best and

happy thanksgiving

Welcome aboard and congrats on your upcoming surgery Pat!  The fellas have all given you great advice already. I will add to stay positive and use this time before surgery to get mentally prepared for life post-op. Focus on all the good things that you will accomplish if you follow the rules. Prepare yourself mentally to exercise EVERY day, even if it is only walking for 30 minutes. Make a list of the things you want to accomplish in your post-op life (Example: run a marathon, swim a mile, enter a bicycling cross-country, weight train - whatever you wish to achieve).

Follow your Surgeon's and Nutritionist's plans, exercise regularly, and stay focused and determined and will succeed!

Good luck to ya buddy! We'll be here on the Loser's Bench waiting for you to join us!
